Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts and First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union Partner to Empower Students at LeRoy L. Wood Elementary School

Fairhaven, MA – Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts (JA) is excited to announce First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union as the Title Sponsor for the upcoming JA Day at LeRoy L. Wood Elementary School.

This partnership represents a shared commitment to youth empowerment, financial literacy, and community development. Through JA Day, students will participate in a full day of interactive, age-appropriate lessons led by trained community volunteers. These lessons are designed to introduce young learners to essential life skills such as budgeting, saving, entrepreneurship, and career exploration—skills that are increasingly vital in today’s complex economic landscape.

“We are incredibly grateful to First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union for their generous support and continued partnership,” said Jeffrey Pelletier, President & CEO of Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts. “Their investment in our mission is helping us reach more students with programs that build confidence, spark curiosity, and prepare them for lifelong success.”

JA Day at LeRoy L. Wood Elementary marks a significant expansion of JA’s footprint in the region. It is the first time this school will host the event, signaling a growing demand for real-world learning experiences that complement traditional classroom instruction.

“We are thrilled to support Junior Achievement’s mission and to help bring JA Day to LeRoy L. Wood Elementary,” said Melanie Howell, Director of Marketing & Community Connection at First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union. “We believe that financial education is a cornerstone of strong communities, and we’re proud to play a role in shaping the future of our local youth.”

First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union has a long-standing history of community involvement and youth outreach. Their sponsorship ensures that all program materials, volunteer training, and classroom support are provided at no cost to the school or families.

JA Day is part of Junior Achievement’s broader mission to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. With the support of corporate and community partners, JA reaches thousands of students across Southern Massachusetts each year, helping them develop the knowledge and skills they need to thrive.
